That one survivor turned out to be a little girl named Hilda who would grow to have mysterious powers. The story of Vanguard Princess is as follows: In a world of chaos and constant warfare, a plane was shot down, leaving only one survivor. (Not counting the DLC characters.) Each major character has their own quirks, and there’s a pretty unique approach to some of them regarding fighting styles.
The game itself consists of an all-girl cast of 10 major characters and four to five assist characters. These days it’s a bit easier for PC gamers to get their hands on a decent fighter. Some have even gone as far as attempting to recreate their favorite arcade fighters through M.U.G.E.N., which comes with its own set of issues.
For a while, if you wanted to play a fighter on PC, you were limited to a small collection of games that were of widely variable qualities some were decent, some were absolutely horrible, and if you wanted a game that was never ported to PC you had to emulate it through MAME with questionable results. Fighting games are a strangely small niche in the realm of PC gaming even smaller than it is on consoles.
